Situated 15 minutes outside of Geelong’s CBD, overlooking Barrabool Hills, Mt Duneed Estate sits on top of Pettavel Road. Here, we chat with Christine Whelan, Mt Duneed Estate’s Sales and Marketing manager.
What is your philosophy at Mt Duneed Estate?
We strive to offer exceptional experiences to our customers, whether it be through our Café and Cellar Door, Concert, Wedding or private event. Our philosophy is simple, offer quality food, wine and service to help customers celebrate special occasions and milestones in a relaxed environment.
What makes Mt Duneed Estate such a unique venue?
We are located so close to the Surf Coast and offer the perfect spot to stop for lunch and are easily accessible from Geelong and Melbourne. Our cafe caters to families with $5 kids meals on weekdays and space for large groups whether it’s within The Barrel Hall cafe or in any of our private dining spaces. All year round, our venue transforms into a five-star wedding and events space and hosts local and international artists at concerts in conjunction with A Day on The Green.
What is your most recommended drop?
We have three ranges of wine: Our Regional range is sourced from key winemaking regions around Victoria namely the Yarra Valley and Heathcote, our Geelong range using grapes sourced from the Geelong area, and our Single Vineyard premium range that offers the ultimate wine experience. Our regional Pinot Noir made by our winemaker Rob Dolan from The Yarra Valley is our most popular drop for quality, value and ease of drinking.
Is sustainability something important to you as a business? What sustainability measures do you take at Mt Duneed Estate?
Sustainability is instrumental to our business and we are always looking for ways to improve. We have solar panels that run our entire venue which substantially reduces the amount of power we purchase. Our venue utilises a wastewater treatment plant where all water is processed on site ensuring we are self-sufficient with water where we can be. We mulch and compost our vineyard and olive grove with prunings for soil regeneration and water conservation. Our whole business recycles where we can, and we encourage minimal printing and paper usage.
